There are some really exciting things coming out for #Office 365, #SharePoint, #OneDrive, Azure, Office, Skype, you name it! It's mind blowing how fast some of these new things are coming out and its looking more and more like people will have to begin becoming even more focused within this space as the functionality continues to grow and develop. At some point, it's just going to be impossible to keep up with every single facet, actually it already is. make sure you take note that chat within a document is NOT saved like your other #Skype for Business chats are. This could be a good or a bad thing depending on how you look at things. I can't wait to try this out with someone today. Native Office 365 Responsive Design & Templates via Patterns and Practices
A couple of months ago Microsoft released the Office 365 Patterns and Practices (PnP) Partner Pack and it includes some wonderful goodies that are LONG overdue. Among them is probably the most sought after feature that has yet to be natively baked into the product and that is Responsive Design. Here are all the features currently included in the Partner Pack but I am sure it will grow over time:
Self-service site collection and sub site provisioning solution
- Fully configurable based on business requirements
- Save existing site as new template from the standard user interface
- Template creation does not require xml or script knowledge - New templates can be generated
Microsoft has announced the general availability of Office Online Server (OOS). Now you can offer the same functionality that you get from the Office 365 experience through your own on premise servers. This means that organizations that would like to offer a browser based experience of their office applications such as excel, word, etc. they can now do so with this new offering without having to have an Office 365 plan.
""OOS scales well for your enterprise whether you have 100 employees or 100,000. The architecture enables one OOS farm to serve multiple SharePoint, Exchange and Skype for Business instances. OOS is designed to work with SharePoint Server 2016, Exchange Server 2016 and Skype for Business Server 2016. It is also backwards compatible
Today Microsoft came out with a mind blowing amount of information, features, previews, and announcements about the future of SharePoint and Office 365 and how it is the core of Microsoft's, its customers, and its partners business. Microsoft said, the future of SharePoint is not about SharePoint, "but about empowering people, teams, and organizations to achieve more." From office Graph, the new developer framework, to Flow and PowerApps, the amount of new features and functionality is absolutely mind blowing. Another interesting and somewhat either unexpected or long overdue announcement was the immediate release and availability of new iOS, Android, and Windows mobile apps for SharePoint and Office 365. The key note was delivered by Satya Nadella, himself and shows Microsoft's continued big bets on SharePoint and the Office platform. I, as a SharePoint developer for over 12 years now, am proud to be part of such a huge and vibrant
In an almost unprecedented manner, Microsoft made an unfathomable number of announcements around the Office 365, SharePoint, and Office products yesterday.
